Planning PCB Spring Break With a Mixed 18 and 21+ Group

Half the group can drink, half the group can't. Here is how to plan PCB nights so nobody gets left at the door or left out.

The short version: everyone 18+ gets in with valid photo ID; only 21+ drink, and that includes the card’s free drinks. Pick cards by how each person parties, not by age, and plan nights you can all get into together.

Most college groups are mixed. Your roommate just turned 21, your best friend is 19, and the senior in the group has been 21 for a while and won’t stop mentioning it. Good news: PCB spring break works for all of them. You just plan a little differently.

The rule, in one line

18+ to enter with valid photo ID. 21+ to drink with valid photo ID. That’s straight from PCB Club Card, and it applies to every card level. Under-21s get into the parties. They don’t get served.

What each card means for an 18 to 20 year old

  • Ultimate ($200 + taxes and fees): free entry all night at all events, express VIP entry and the VIP section. The free drinks don’t apply until 21.
  • Platinum ($100 + taxes and fees): free entry until 11 PM at every nightly party, plus a FREE Beach Blast and one special event. Again, drinks are 21+.
  • Fred’s Card ($80 + taxes and fees): free entry 8 to 10 PM at Hammerhead Fred’s, Fred’s events only. No free drinks at any age.

So for your under-21 friends, a card is about getting in. For your 21+ friends, Ultimate and Platinum also include free drinks 3 to 5 PM (6 days) and 8 to 10 PM (7 nights): beer and a pre-mixed liquor option.

The crew card picker has an age toggle for exactly this. Tap 18-20 or 21+ for each friend and the explanation changes with it.

Pick cards by vibe, not by age

It’s tempting to give every 19-year-old the cheapest card. But if your 19-year-old is the one who closes every party, Platinum’s 11 PM entry cutoff is going to leave them outside while the group is inside. Match the card to how each person actually goes out. Age only changes the drinks.

Plan nights where everyone gets in

The point of a group trip is being together. A few habits keep a mixed group from splitting up:

  1. Arrive together. If some of you are on Platinum, everyone walks in before 11 PM.
  2. Watch the Fred’s Card limits. Fred’s Card isn’t valid at Señor Frog’s or Whiskey’s Saloon, so plan some nights at Fred’s for everyone.
  3. Do the day stuff together. Beach, food, the Beach Blast (Platinum and Ultimate). Daytime is age-neutral.

The non-negotiable: nobody borrows an ID

Say it in the chat before the trip, out loud, once: nobody borrows an ID, nobody lends one. Valid photo ID is how everyone gets in. A borrowed one is how a great week becomes a terrible story. DoItForBreak’s guide to PCB spring break under 21 covers what’s open to everyone.

Make it a non-issue

Honestly, the best mixed groups barely talk about age once they’re there. The 21+ friends don’t make it weird, the under-21 friends don’t feel like the kids’ table, and everyone’s on the same plan for the night. Set the expectations at home, then go have the week.

reminder: 18+ get in with ID, 21+ drink with ID. nobody borrows an ID. we arrive together, we leave together
